Melky Jean Introduces Saint Sauveur 1972 on Guy Wewe’s Show

When it comes to blending heritage, entrepreneurship, and artistry, few do it with the heart and authenticity of Melky Jean. Best known as the sister of Wyclef Jean and a Grammy-nominated artist in her own right, Melky is also the visionary founder behind Saint Sauveur 1972, a Haitian-inspired premium rum brand that’s quickly earning attention in the luxury spirits world.

Recently, Melky sat down with host Guy Wewe for an intimate and energetic conversation that pulled back the curtain on her journey.

A Rum Rooted in History and Resilience

During the interview, Melky shared the story of how Saint Sauveur 1972 was born—not just as a brand, but as a tribute. The name honors the Haitian refugees who traveled aboard the Saint Sauveur ship in 1972, a moment in history that speaks to both resilience and rebirth.

“Every sip tells a story,” Melky explained. For her, rum is more than a drink—it’s a vessel carrying memory, culture, and pride. By tying her craft to this legacy, she’s reimagining what a luxury spirit with cultural depth looks like.

Entrepreneurship Meets Cultural Passion

The conversation also revealed Melky’s entrepreneurial mindset. Transitioning from music into the world of premium spirits wasn’t just a business move—it was a creative extension of her identity.

She described how artistry, storytelling, and business acumen intersect in the creation of Saint Sauveur 1972, from the carefully developed flavor notes to the striking bottle design. For her, building the brand is about more than market competition; it’s about representation, joy, and paving new paths for women of culture in the spirits industry.

More Than a Spirit: A Lifestyle Movement

Guy Wewe’s show gave Melky the space to speak not only about the product but also about the lifestyle philosophy surrounding it. For those who enjoy spirits, Saint Sauveur 1972 offers versatility: it shines as a smooth sipping rum, elevates cocktails, and anchors celebratory moments. But its larger purpose lies in bringing people together—around tables, stories, and shared heritage.

This, Melky emphasized, is where the true spirit of Saint Sauveur lives.
